Committed to quality.
We craft our tallow cream with intention and care, using only the finest ingredients. Our grass-fed, grass-finished tallow derived from pasture raised US cows is wet-rendered from pure suet (liver and kidney fat) to retain its rich nutrients. It is also free from preservatives, pesticides, hormones, vaccines, and antibiotics, and is a natural source of vitamins A, D, E, and K, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants.
We blend this pure base with organic, unrefined coconut oil and therapeutic or food-grade essential oils, ensuring the highest quality and purity in every batch.
Our commitment to quality extends to our process, where we use only non-toxic stainless steel and silicone utensils, and package our balms in glass jars free of BPA, BPS, and other toxins.
Why Tallow?
Tallow has been used for centuries in skincare, and there’s a good reason why it’s still around. Its makeup is surprisingly similar to the natural oils your skin produces, making it incredibly easy for skin to absorb. Unlike many modern products loaded with synthetic ingredients, tallow works with your skin - not against it. It’s packed with vitamins like A, D, E, and K, which help keep your skin moisturized, healthy, and balanced. Gentle and nourishing, tallow is a simple, effective option for happy, healthy skin.
FAQs

Tallow is a traditional skincare ingredient prized for its unique compatibility with human skin. Its composition closely resembles our skin's natural sebum (oil), allowing it to be easily absorbed and utilized without clogging pores. Tallow is rich in:
Vitamins A, D, E, and K: These fat-soluble vitamins are essential for skin health, supporting cell regeneration, collagen production, antioxidant protection, and healthy blood clotting.
Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs): Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are crucial for maintaining the skin's barrier function, preventing moisture loss, and protecting against environmental damage.
Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA): This naturally occurring fatty acid has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help soothe irritated skin.
These nutrients work synergistically to deeply moisturize, nourish, and protect the skin, promoting a healthy and radiant complexion.

We use organic, unrefined coconut oil as a carrier oil because it complements tallow beautifully. Coconut oil:
Enhances absorption: It helps the skin absorb the nutrients in tallow more effectively.
Adds moisturizing benefits: Coconut oil itself is a great moisturizer with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Creates a smooth texture: It contributes to a luxurious, non-greasy feel.
Provides a stable base: Coconut oil is relatively stable and resistant to oxidation, helping to prolong the shelf life of our tallow balms.
The combination of tallow and coconut oil creates a synergistic blend that deeply nourishes and protects the skin.

We're committed to maintaining the purity and integrity of our tallow from start to finish. That's why we take these extra steps:
Non-toxic stainless steel utensils: We use only high-quality, food-grade stainless steel utensils. This prevents leaching of harmful chemicals into the tallow during the rendering process, ensuring a pure and safe product.
Low-heat rendering: We render our tallow at low temperatures for an extended period. This gentle method:
Preserves the heat-sensitive nutrients, such as vitamins and essential fatty acids, maximizing their benefits for your skin.
Prevents the tallow from becoming overly processed or damaged, maintaining its natural properties.
Results in a higher quality, more stable tallow.
By using non-toxic utensils and low-heat rendering, we ensure that our tallow balms are as pure and beneficial as possible.

Tallow's composition is remarkably similar to human sebum, making it generally well-tolerated by most skin types, including sensitive skin. However, as with any new skincare product, we recommend performing a patch test before applying it to a larger area.
Dry Skin: Tallow's rich fatty acids provide intense hydration and help replenish the skin's natural barrier.
Oily/Acne-Prone Skin: While it might seem counterintuitive, tallow can actually help balance oil production. Because it's so similar to sebum, it can signal to the skin that it doesn't need to produce as much of its own oil.
Sensitive Skin: Tallow's natural composition minimizes the risk of irritation compared to many synthetic ingredients.
Mature Skin: The vitamins and fatty acids in tallow support collagen production and skin elasticity.
While tallow is generally suitable for most skin types, individual reactions can vary. If you have any concerns, consult with a dermatologist or healthcare professional.

Pure tallow, without added essential oils, is generally considered safe for all ages, including babies and children (I use it for my infant and toddler daily without any issues). Its gentle and nourishing properties can be particularly beneficial for delicate skin. However, extra caution should be exercised when using products containing essential oils, especially on infants and young children. Essential oils are highly concentrated and can be irritating or even harmful if not used properly.
For infants and young children: We recommend using only unscented tallow or consulting with a qualified aromatherapist or healthcare professional before using any essential oil blends.
For older children and adults: Always perform a patch test before using any new product containing essential oils.
If you have any concerns about using tallow or essential oils on yourself or your children, please consult with a healthcare professional or qualified aromatherapist.
